Seth Godin commented recently, ‘content marketing is the only marketing left’. We believe this, and we need a stellar Content Strategist who does too.
Babcock & Jenkins, one of the largest agencies in Portland, Oregon, is a relationship marketing firm specializing in high-tech B2B communications (Sun, HP, IBM, Salesforce.com, Epicor, Polycom, etc…). With nearly 20 years experience in B2B marketing we service some of the largest names in the industry. Our core offerings are extensive and are associated with anything relationship marketing-oriented: direct and e-marketing, advertising, collateral design and development, identity, social media, interactive design and app creation, and emerging technologies, for instance.
In order to deliver the best strategic offerings to our clients we need a strong Content Strategist who is passionate about creating unique content experiences, has a dynamic personality and is comfortable presenting to clients. You must be savvy about how and when different audiences engage with content.
As Content Strategist, you are a leader in the creative department. In partnership with our Creative Directors, you will work to uphold and enhance the agency’s standards of quality for creative thought and development and you will strategize for diverse audiences and media. To do that you must keep pace with developments in marketing and Web usability and employ that knowledge to create content and content plans that communicate effectively.
In short, we expect that you will build our content practice, bringing fresh ideas to the table and ensure we uphold our high standards as purveyors of fine content. Specific tasks as they relate to content strategy and development are:
Content Strategy
- Perform audits of client content – whitepapers, webcasts, articles, online tools, video, Flash demos, etc.

Characterize each piece by audience, topic, type, etc.

Develop abstracts for publication of all content.

Develop content calendars and content business rules to align with marketing campaigns.

Identify content development needs / present recommendations to clients.

Establish B2B social strategies that align to audience/marketing objectives.

Work with copywriters to establish keywords, best SEO content practices for our sites.

Make and keep relationships with third-party content providers/contract writers.

Scope and negotiate third-party content when necessary.
Content Development
- Direct content development projects with a team of writers/designers/programmers.

Serve as the assigned writer or community manager for select client projects.
- Translate marketing objectives into engaging content plans across a broad media mix.
- Think critically; maintain composure, perspective and priorities under pressure.

Strong research, messaging, copywriting and conceptual abilities.
